Today we worked a lot on our fine motor skills. We practiced coloring small leaves and brances for our morning work and then used tongs to sort colored pom pom balls onto the correct leaf. Then we talked about more, less and same. We also came up with A LOT of words that begin with the letter F.
October 2:
Today we started talking about the letter F. We worked on the sound it makes, words that begin with the letter and how to write it. We also worked on positional words on a fall picture.
Our day consists of a lot of center play time. Our centers include: Dramatic Play, Blocks, Art, Religion, Sensory, Math and Science, Writing, Puzzles, Music, Books and a Special Center.
If you ask your child what they did today and all they say is “play”, I’m ok with that! But if you want to engage them in more conversation you could ask, "What did you do for morning work?", "What activity was your favorite?", or "What made you happy today?". Asking these open ended questions will help your child remember different parts of the day.
Along with unstructured play, we do small and large group activities. This is where we focus on Kindergarten readiness skills. Some of which include conflict resolution, managing feelings, taking turns, raising hands, as well as academic skills.
Let me know if you have any questions about our day!
